CUISINE
We are blessed to be surrounded by nature that provides us with beautiful scenery and bountiful food.
From the nearby sea comes some of the freshest seafood you can get. We are located only 4km from Tsuiyama Port and the Sea of Japan. Being in such close proximity to the sea means that we have prime access to fresh seafood. Much of the daily catch makes it onto our menu, and in winter our menu gets an upgrade of crab.
Tsuiyama Crab, named after the port it is brought into, has been a popular brand of crabs with a history of deliciousness here in Kinosaki Onsen.
The lush mountains and local farms with rich soils produce naturally sweet and clean grown vegetables. Japanese tend to tell the seasons apart by the vegetables that are in season. Our cuisine changes with the seasons, using fresh locally grown produce.
Another advantage of rich soils, is they also raise some of the best cattle. You have probably heard of Kobe Beef, the cattle is actually born and raised near Kinosaki Onsen. Our Wagyu Beef (Japanese black cattle, the same breed used for Kobe Beef) comes from this same famous strand of cattle.
We offer various types of kaiseki course style dinners. Some examples of our dinner courses are crab (mainly during the winter), shabu-shabu and steak. Our menu does change throughout the year depending on what is available in the local markets and seasonal produce.
Guests can choose a plan that includes both dinner and breakfast, just dinner or breakfast or no meals, although we highly recommend ordering a dinner with your stay to get the best ryokan experience.
Meals are normally served in your room at a designated time unless otherwise informed.

Tsuchiya Ryokan is a warm and welcoming traditional Japanese style inn with a homelike atmosphere. We are situated in the picturesque and popular hot spring town of Kinosaki Onsen. The town is most famous for its natural hot springs that can be enjoyed in any one of its seven public bathhouses. Two of those bathhouses are less than a 5 minute walk from our doorstep.
Our main building is a 3-story wooden structure and was built in the traditional Japanese style.
Off our lobby is a small waiting room with a hori-gotatsu or low table that has a sunken hole below and floor seating around, where guests can relax and gather.
